The Coach

FOUNDER, Nutritionist & Wellness Coach

Sara Jester is the owner of Barbell Kitchen. With 11 years of coaching experience, she teaches the simplicity behind the science of nutrition through recipes, health articles, and a private coaching practice. She lives in San Marcos with her two kids and trains at a local CrossFit gym. She uses science-based research to help her children, fellow gym-members, and global community implement strategies towards improved health. When she’s not coaching or lifting, you can catch her in the kitchen baking.

She holds a credential as a certified Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach (Nutritionist) along with certifications as a USAW Sports Performance Coach and CrossFit Level 2 Trainer. She holds additional certifications in Mindfulness, Life Coaching, and Mobility and recently completed a credential in Meditation and the Vedic holistic health system of Ayurveda. She works with clients in large group classes, seminars, and individual training programs to achieve their goals (physically and spiritually), no matter their age or ability.

Sarah Rose is our gluten-free foodie, eager to help those with a busy lifestyle make their nutrition and fitness a priority. Sarah is our East Coast babe and you can find her on the Peloton bike hitting a quick high-intensity ride or in her local CrossFit gym. Sarah brings a bounty of knowledge on nutrition and focuses on a no-restriction type diet. She will help you find the balance between veggies, protein, and your cake too! When Sarah isn't enduring the seasons of the East Coast, you can find her meditating, in her kitchen making a home-cooked meal, or at her local coffee shop with her favorite book.

Heather Alton is a busy mom, fur mom, Air Force wife, CrossFit instructor and nutrition coach. She has always had the desire to help people. She was in the process of studying to become a nurse when her husband got orders overseas. While overseas she fell in love with CrossFIt and decided to switch careers and help people before they needed a nurse. With a spouse that is often gone fighting for our freedom, she is left to juggle a busy household full of sporting events, school events and everything in between. She is proof that anyone can do this. When she is not busy saving the world she enjoys traveling the world, being outdoors and relaxing with her family and friends.

Tara Lopez a mom to two boys and full-time CrossFit Coach, is a nutritionist in training who wants to help her clients be the best version of themselves. Tara is the epitome of a working mom who is juggling carpools, soccer games, and getting a healthy dinner on the table. Tara wants to show you that it is possible to make your health, diet, and fitness a priority even while managing a full household. When Tara isn't running around, she enjoys relaxing on the beaches of Socal with her kids and husband playing volleyball while soaking up the sun's vitamin D.

Courtney Ford has been a part of the CrossFit Community since 2011 and has been on the floor coaching movement and nutrition, dedicating her time to inspire and motivate people since 2012. Her mission is to get people to move for longevity, eat without restrictions and to do cool things outside the 4 walls of their CrossFit gym. Her goal is to teach her clients to walk out of the gym with confidence and take pride in their lifestyle choices. She is our Midwest girl! When you don't catch her running CrossFit One Shot in Green Bay, WI with her husband, you'll see her chasing around her kids, Lleyton (6) and Oakely (2) or trying to take adventurous vacations hiking or beachin' it.
